Shaanxi Normal University (SNU) is a teacher training university directly under the Ministry of Education, the first batch of “double first-class” construction universities in China, and is an important base for cultivating teachers and education management cadres in colleges and universities, secondary schools and other senior specialists, and is known as the “cradle of teachers”.

The school has a long history of operation, formerly known as Shaanxi Provincial Teachers College established in 1944, renamed Xi'an Teachers College in 1954, merged with Shaanxi Teachers College in 1960, named Shaanxi Normal University, and transferred to the Ministry of Education directly under the Ministry of Education in 1978. Over the past 78 years since its establishment, the university has always resonated with the destiny of the nation and been closely connected with the development of the national education cause. The school is located in Xi 'an, an ancient capital. It covers an area of more than 2800 mu and has two campuses in Chang 'an and Yanta. Chang 'an Campus is the main campus of the university, which mainly undertakes the education and training tasks for the second, third and fourth grades of undergraduates and postgraduates. Yanta Campus is mainly responsible for the teaching of basic courses and general courses, teacher education, continuing education, distance education, teacher cadre training, international student education and other tasks. Chang 'an Campus is modern and magnificent, while Yanta Campus is simple and elegant. The school has been awarded the title of "Civilized Campus" by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Shaanxi Province.
