Zhejiang Normal University is a comprehensive provincial key university with a focus on teacher education. Its predecessor was Hangzhou Normal College, which was approved by the Ministry of Education on April 16, 1956 and upgraded to Hangzhou Normal University in 1958. In 1962, Hangzhou Normal University merged with Zhejiang Education Institute and Zhejiang Sports Institute and was renamed Zhejiang Normal University. In 1965, Zhejiang Normal University relocated from Hangzhou to Jinhua and was renamed Zhejiang Normal University in 1985. In 2000, 2001, and 2004, Zhejiang Finance School, Zhejiang Preschool Normal School, and Jinhua Railway Driver School were successively merged. In 2015, the school was selected as one of the first key construction universities in Zhejiang Province, and in 2020, it was awarded the second "National Civilized Campus". The school has four campuses including Jinhua Campus (main campus), Hangzhou Xiaoshan Campus, Hangzhou Xihu Campus, and Lanxi Campus, as well as 24 colleges (including independent colleges), and affiliated hospitals such as Jinhua Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital.
