LiDAR is short for Light Detection and Ranging system, also known as Laser Radar or LADAR.

Lidar is an active remote sensing equipment which uses laser as emission light source and photoelectric detection technology. Lidar is an advanced detection method combining laser technology and modern photoelectric detection technology. It consists of transmitting system, receiving system, information processing and so on. The emission system is composed of various types of lasers, such as carbon dioxide laser, neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser, semiconductor laser, solid-state laser with tunable wavelength and optical beam expanding unit. The receiving system uses a combination of telescopes and various forms of photodetectors, such as photomultiplier tubes, semiconductor photodiodes, avalanche photodiodes, infrared and visible light detectors. Lidar uses pulse or continuous wave two modes of operation, detection methods according to the different principles of detection can be divided into meter scattering, Rayleigh scattering, Raman scattering, Brillouin scattering, fluorescence, Doppler and other lidar.

Lidar can rotate 360° to scan and range and take sample 2000 times per second within 6 meters. In line with Class 1 laser safety standards, the loss of laser radar is low,it has long service life, and it is stable and reliable.
