In 1956, semiconductor science and technology was listed as one of the four emergency measures for new technologies in China's twelve year plan for scientific and technological development. In order to create a research and development base for China's semiconductor science and technology, the State set up the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as "the Institute") in Beijing on September 6, 1960, opening the way for the development of China's semiconductor science and technology.

Over the past 60 years since its establishment, the Semiconductor Institute has made significant contributions to the development of semiconductor technology in China at various historical stages, developing China's Xth germanium transistor, silicon planar transistor, and semiconductor solid component; Developed the Xth germanium single crystal, silicon single crystal, and gallium arsenide single crystal; We have achieved a series of significant original results by manufacturing the Xth silicon single crystal furnace and zone melting furnace. Nearly 40 national X-level awards have been won, and Academician Huang Kun was awarded the 2001 National Z High Science and Technology Award. The Semiconductor Institute has now developed into a comprehensive research institution for national X-level semiconductor science and technology, integrating semiconductor physics, materials, devices, and their system integration applications.

Lab Companion has a registered capital of 10 million yuan and a management team from Tsinghua University. There are three R&D and manufacturing plants in Dongguan, Kunshan and Chongqing, specializing in environmental simulation technology, and working closely with scientific research institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Metrology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the State Grid, China Southern Power Grid, Tsinghua University, Peking University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
