China University of Geosciences (Beijing) is located on Xueyuan Road in Haidian District, Beijing, where prestigious universities gather. It is a renowned higher education institution both domestically and internationally. The school is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and jointly established with the Ministry of Natural Resources. In 2017, it entered the ranks of national "Double First Class" university construction.
China University of Geosciences (Beijing) was established in 1952 through the merger of geological departments (departments) from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, Tangshan Railway Institute, and other universities. It is a university with distinct characteristics and profound heritage. In 1960, it became a national key university. In 1970, the school was relocated, and in 1978, under the direct care of Comrade Deng Xiaoping, it was restored to its original campus in Beijing. In 1987, China University of Geosciences was established and operated relatively independently in Beijing and Wuhan. It was one of the first 33 universities in China to pilot graduate schools and was also one of the first to enter the construction of the national "211 Project" and the national "985" advantageous discipline innovation platform. In February 2000, China University of Geosciences was transferred from the Ministry of Land and Resources to the Ministry of Education for overall management. In March 2005, the university headquarters was abolished and independent education was established between Beijing and Wuhan.
